Editorial Policy

How Stirup approaches sources, AI assistance, verification, corrections and commercial transparency.

Updated

Our editorial mission

Make technology easier to understand and evaluate. Coverage should explain why a development matters, what evidence supports it and which limitations affect the conclusion.

Source selection and attribution

Prefer original documentation, research papers, release notes and attributable statements. Link sources near the claims they support. Announcements and vendor statements are evidence of what the source says, not independent proof of performance.

Primary-source verification

Check dates, versions, licensing terms and consequential numbers against their original context. A second independent source is useful where available. If evidence cannot resolve a material uncertainty, narrow the claim, label it or withhold the piece.

AI-assisted research and writing

Stirup uses automated discovery and AI-assisted content production. Models can assist extraction, drafting and review, and can introduce unsupported claims. Automated review is not independent human review. We do not claim that every article is individually reviewed by a human.

Fact-checking and limitations

Automated checks assess some evidence and consistency requirements, not universal factual accuracy. Distinguish observation, source claims, analysis and speculation. Measurements should name their setup and scope. Older articles may not meet every current standard; their presence is not a certification of accuracy.

Corrections and updates

Readers can report a specific issue through the contact form. Substantive corrections should identify what changed and when; minor spelling or formatting changes may not need a note. Updated information is not necessarily an error in an earlier, correctly dated report. Requests are assessed on their evidence, without a guaranteed response time.

Reviews and product evaluations

A hands-on review must explain what was tested, versions, environment and relevant limitations. A documentation-based comparison must say so. Do not imply testing, a laboratory, certification or independent measurement where none occurred. An article's testing basis should be clear before readers rely on it.

Sponsored content and advertising

Commercial material should be clearly labeled. Sponsorship must not be presented as independent reporting or guarantee a favorable conclusion. Partnership inquiries are separate from correction requests and can be submitted through Contact.

Affiliate relationships and conflicts of interest

Material affiliate relationships, supplied review products and other relevant interests should be disclosed near the affected content. A link alone does not establish endorsement. No universal absence of conflicts is asserted for the historical archive.

Copyright and original content

Attribute quotations, respect source licenses and avoid substituting a rewritten source for original analysis. Images should have an identified origin and appropriate rights. Label synthetic illustrations so they are not mistaken for photographs or evidence. Send specific copyright concerns and the relevant URLs through Contact.

Reader feedback and correction requests

Use Corrections & Feedback for what to include, then submit via Contact. Do not send passwords or confidential source material through the ordinary form. It is not an anonymous or encrypted whistleblower channel.
